Workshops, Tamales, & Montezuma

I can't believe another week is over, and I have only one more left!  This week we worked some more with the kids in Rio Azul.  I've really been enjoying serving lunch and getting to know the kids better.  We also went to the National Museum, ate some delicious Costa Rican tamales, and went to the playa de Montezuma on the Nicoya Peninsula.  This weekend is the celebration of the annexation of the region of Guanacaste of which Montezuma is a part.  The day after I leave is the celebration of the Patron Saint of Costa Rica, so I am planning a trip to Cartago this week to check out the pre-holiday festivities.  I need to enjoy every fleeting minute I have here before my plane flies out next Sunday!

  1. We're so excited to see you and hear more about your adventures! Hope this week goes slow enough for you to soak it all in and see all you'd hoped to see!

  2. Yes, all of a sudden the time does seem to have gone quickly. We are extremely excited to see you, to have you back in the U.S. The weather here has been somewhat like I would imagine the rainforest so maybe you won't have too much trouble readjusting to the climate...:) The tamales sound wonderful - I bet you will miss the food. We'll have to try to make some Costa Rican specialities here when you get home - although maybe there are some American foods that you've missed too??? Enjoy your last week. Be safe. Wear Sunscreen. Hugs to your San Jose familiy.

  3. You'll have to show me how to make tomales. I've never made those. I'm glad you're having so much fun! I know you'll really miss it there, but I'll be happy to have you back. I keep showing up places and forgetting you're not going to be there. It makes me feel kinda silly. Still, I hope the rest of your time down is more fun than ever!
